RSS Feed Problems
« on: August 11, 2016, 08:20:13 AM »
Hello

Right now i am playing around with the example RSS Script from the Scala Scripting Toolkit. So far everything works very well but i have one issue wich i cant solve by my own.

I have two Feeds for testing:

1. http://feeds.n24.de/n24/homepage?format=xml  - This Feed cant validatet by W3C, but i see the images of this feed.

2. http://gundlach-intern.de/share/g-intern.xml - This Feed is validatet by W3C, but i did not see any images.

Can anyone look at this two feeds an show me the differences? i cant finde any. Usual RSS readers shows the images in both feeds.

Running under Scala Player 11.01.02 and Python 2.77 for Scala

It's hard to say without any specific error messages from Scala or anything but looking at the code from the feeds, the first one (not-validated but can see images) has the image thumbnails enclosed in tags differently than the second RSS feed (validated but can't see images). I would think there are standards in RSS coding as to how images should be tagged but oddly enough, the feed that actually validates is the one that doesn't tag images correctly.

The RSS feed script from the Scripting Toolkit is checking for images that are tagged the "right" way. Since there is nothing you can do about the coding of the RSS feed (unless you are in charge of the feed's generation) you might be able to modify the Python file that grabs data from the RSS feed but I would recommend just finding a different feed, if at all possible.
